Weiss Schwarz

Weiss Schwarz is Bushiroad's crossover card game, and it has been running since 2007 — long enough to have covered an enormous span of anime, manga and game licences. The name is German for "white black", after the two halves the game was originally built around.

Its defining feature is the licence structure: each set is dedicated to one series, and a deck is normally built from a single series. That keeps the game approachable, because you never need to know what is happening in forty other franchises to play the one you care about.

Booster boxes are the main sealed product, each built around a single series.

Trial Decks are preconstructed and playable out of the box — the standard entry point for a series.

Supply sets are accessories rather than cards: sleeves, playmats, storage and similar, matched to a series. They are the natural companion to a booster box from the same licence.

Note that Weiss Schwarz exists in both Japanese and English editions, and they are printed separately. Check which edition a listing is if you are matching an existing collection.
