About the Digimon Card Game
Bandai relaunched the Digimon Card Game in 2020, and it has built a reputation as one of the more mechanically interesting games on the shelf. The core idea is digivolution: you play a low-level Digimon, then stack higher-level cards on top of it as the game goes on, carrying effects up the stack rather than replacing what came before.
Decks are built around one of the game's colours, and memory is shared between both players — spend too much on your turn and you hand your opponent a longer one. It rewards planning several turns ahead.
Understanding Digimon Products
Booster sets use a BT code and are the main numbered releases. EX sets are themed side releases, often focused on a particular storyline or group of Digimon. ST is a Starter Deck.
Booster boxes are the efficient way into a set — enough cards to build around a colour and an evolution line properly, rather than buying singles one at a time.
Starter decks are preconstructed and playable out of the box, and are the usual entry point for a new player. Two of them give two people a complete game.
Limited and Special packs are smaller self-contained releases with shorter print windows than the main BT line.
